MISSION 006 [VIDEO/ACTION FOR VIOLET CITY]
[[Hello and welcome to another fantastically manly Alex Louis Armstrong broadcast! Today, we're starting with a scintillating view of our (shirtless, of course) hero, standing just on the outskirts of Violet City.
Faced with a snarling Garchomp.
...make that a snarling and charging Garchomp, as the beast rockets forward, claws out, ready to barrel into Armstrong....!
...who promptly moves to the side with speed that a man of his size simply shouldn't possess, lightly knocking the Garchomp's strikes away with his fists. Screeching, she pivots sharply and swings her tail toward him, but that too is avoided with apparent ease. Tensing, Armstrong lands a good uppercut on the Garchomp's chin before finishing with a firm strike to her chest. The Garchomp, stunned, crashes to the ground, prompting her trainer to laugh loudly.]]
Your technique is improving, Zahna! A few more sessions like this and even I, Alex Louis Armstrong, will stand no chance against you!
[[Harsh demeanor gone, the (obviously unhurt; Armstrong isn't aiming to injure) Garchomp pushes herself to her feet, looking at her trainer with wide, almost reverent eyes, nodding at everything he's saying. It's clear, however, that she doesn't quite believe she'll ever be able to beat him in battle.
Turning back to the camera, Armstrong moves to switch off the feed, but behind him Zahna sneaks forward, obviously seeing if a sneak attack will work. She leaps....!
....and is immediately intercepted and hurled over Armstrong's shoulder, landing off-screen with a rather firm thud.]]
Attacking a man from behind is not honourable, my dear!

[[......wait for it
wait
for it
....right, have a rather intense round of laughter, Reaver; you are the new favourite, all right]]
O-Oh, I shouldn't say it, but I....ah, Kimblee and I don't really see eye-to-eye all that much, so your comments....oh, Mr Reaver, you have quite the talent for this sort of thing!
[[Seriously, he's still chuckling; you're something else!]]
I would hate to be on the receiving end of your criticism; I see it is just as refined and elegant as your compliments! But you'd do well to avoid Kimblee, yes, although I believe you've already worked that much out! Your butler sounds like quite the character, too; I would love to meet him!
but when does he get the benefits of being the new favorite
c'mon c'mon let's do this thing
or at least each other c'monnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn]
Unfortunately, my dear Barry is nowhere near as elegant; a bit of a crude one, really, though I've been doing what I can to correct the behavior. But he has his charms, really - I wouldn't keep him around if he didn't, after all.
Of course, it's entirely possible you'll get to actually meet him in person eventually - honestly, I'd think it was a shame if our paths didn't cross. I believe I recognize the area you're currently near - Violet City, isn't it? We spent quite some time there, you see; I became rather...acquainted with the terrain.
YOU CAN VIEW AND/OR TOUCH HIS MUSCLES WHENEVER YOU WANT! DON'T YOU SIMPLY FEEL HONOURED? IT'S LIKE A 24 HOUR ART SHOW!!]]
Violet City indeed! I intend to challenge the Gym Leader, Falkner, on the morrow; I have two teams of Pokemon but will be using my secondary one. It hardly seems fair to blitz the poor boy with Pokemon far above his level! Besides, there's no honour in it.
And more importantly, no fun~
[[We fight our battles honourably in the Armstrong family, Reaver! ....well sort of, he's not going to speak for his dear older sister, sob]]
But once I have obtained that, my travelling partners and I should be heading back towards Goldenrod City! You wouldn't happen to be somewhere around there, would you? Forgive the assumption, but I find most of us tend to gravitate towards that city at one point or another!
Ah, Falkner - quite the attractive fellow, if a bit subdued for my tastes; his battling wasn't bad, really, though not quite on the level that I'd expected.
[READ: I BLITZED HIM, AND HE LOOKED KIND OF SCARED DURING OUR CONVERSATION AFTERWARDS. AND THEN HE REFUSED TO COME BACK TO THE INN, THE KILLJOY.]
As for Goldenrod City, I'm here for the time being, yes. One of my companions is insisting on leaving for Azalea Town, but there's really nowhere to go from there that isn't back here. I'm certain we'll meet eventually, darling.
....
....he's missing something here, isn't he]]
Why, our groups will probably end up crossing paths at one point! How simply wonderful; I always love to meet new people-
[[-and force them to look at my muscles-]]
-along the way! What good luck it was, that we became acquainted today; I'd quite like to see your battling style, since you give off an air of rather considerable confidence~
[[You know
just a little
getting somewhat of a vibe here]]
may Avo have mercy]
Given that you have a secondary team that you're going to be using, I suspect you've been here a fair bit longer than I have; I only just arrived around midsummer. But I see no harm in a bit of competition between friends and all, should you be so interested in a battle upon meeting.
[...Reaver you are going to get thrashed]
DO YOU KNOW HOW RARE IT IS FOR HIS BODY TO NOT BE READY]]
I can promise you that I won't get onto the field and fight your Pokemon myself, at least! I would like them to have a sporting chance, after all~!
[[But really, he is excited by this prospect! Now hopefully his Pokemon won't try to beat each other up rather than the opponent, but details...]]
Midsummer, you say? You are one of the newer folk among us! I have been here....oh, almost ten months! You'll find that you've been here a year before you know it!
[[Which is a good thing, right Reaver?
...TOTALLY A GOOD THING FOR YOU]]
he'll make sure your body
is quite ready-
...wait WHAT]
Have you been here that long? Staying here for a year is more than a bit out of the question, I'm afraid - as much as I'd love to stay in your company, my dear, don't get me wrong.
[[He'll chuckle a bit at that rather charming remark, although there seems to be a slight change in the tone of this conversation! How curious....]]
I believe that, at one point, I spoke to someone who had been here 2 years. It's hard to imagine.
And as I've just said, darling, that's not an option. For many reasons. Surely not everyone in this place is so incompetent to be unable to find a way to leave at their will?
I'm afraid not, Mr Reaver. In all my time here, I'm yet to hear of a method that actually works. Those of us who return home have no control over when it happens. It's just....an odd phenomenon that can strike at any moment.
[[His thoughts drift back to Hughes, and he sighs.]]
I wish I could be more helpful, but I'm as much in the dark as you are.
he's
surrounded
by idiots
C: ]
It won't remain that way for long, then. I'll ensure that much, believe me - I didn't gain my position in Albion by giving up, after all.
Something tells me that if anyone stands a chance, it's you; what exactly is it that you do in your home world then, Mr Reaver?
I've done many things, my dear, and I still hold many titles - currently, however, I'm the head of industry for all of Albion. If it's required and manufactured, I'm responsible for it, and my factories create it. I intend to continue doing that until it's either no longer profitable for me or I grow bored with it - though I must say that it's well-established enough that the latter will happen far before the former. They say I am the industry, and who am I to argue with them?
You must be quite the businessman, Mr Reaver! Colour me impressed!
[[And he actually is! He's never really been interested in business, so those who are legitimately good at it are rather impressive, in his (not so) humble opinion.]]
I'm afraid I'm nowhere near as interesting as you; merely a Major in the Amestrian army! Although, like Kimblee, I am an Alchemist. How I wish my gauntlets and...power were not taken from me. I would love to give you an example of my work.
[[Reaver, meet the man who could actually sculpt you an exact replica of your body. Just....Johto tho.]]
Ah, another alchemist...? We do have a few of those, if I'm not mistaken, but your sort seem to be closer to Will-users than anything else - tell me, what did you specialize in, hm? From what I understand there are different disciplines.
Ah, my alchemy is based around manipulating the crusts of the planet, in order to shape them as I desire!
[[Let him just slam his fist into the ground for the purposes of nostalgia, okay. Sob.]]
Creation and destruction...I can create massive walls of stone, many stories high, or projectiles, spikes, holes...anything you can imagine that can be made from the earth, I can make it! Although I have a fondness for sculptures; my work tends to veer more towards the artistic than the aggressive!
[[....well
it's still hella aggressive but details]]
mother
of god
me fucking gusta tbh]
Mm, closer to Strength than Will, then - though given your physique I suppose that was to be expected - ah, but that's beside the point entirely, isn't it? This place has such a hideous little habit of ridding us all of our natural talents...
[pout...ing...he is most definitely pouting for a moment before he's back to being Up To Eleven again]
At any rate, that sounds most amazing; consider me impressed. And just for the sake of reference, my darling, just a bit of advice - don't ever say that's not interesting; you're selling yourself almost obscenely short.
[[no really that was a really sweet thing to say what the hell you're so nice]]
I-I am truly flattered that you would say such pleasant things about me! Should there be a time in which my powers return, I would love to give you a demonstration of what I can do!
[[because you're just....really awesome okay, and really awesome people deserve to see the full extent of his beauty!!]]
Ah, but you mentioned some talents of your own; has Johto stripped you of something too, my friend? Trust me, I can empathise greatly. Does it have something to do with 'Strength' and 'Will'....?
[[Because you've dropped that second phrase a bit and something tells him it's not what he thinks it is....]]
[Yes, yes, he's very nice indeed; just be glad the screen on this thing is small enough to dull the effect of that incredibly predatory look in his eyes.]
As for those talents of mine, they fortunately haven't been stripped entirely - although I suppose certain things can't be removed, thank the powers that be. What's been removed from me is the way I tend to utilize those talents - I specialize in ranged weaponry, you see, guns and the like.
[[....he did have them in that horrible dream he shared with Kimblee, but he tries to pretend that didn't happen. He's sure Kimblee feels the same, somehow.]]
Apparently any possessions that could be considered a weapon of any sort get taken from us, along with any...I suppose what Johto would consider unnatural powers. You'll find you're certainly not alone when it comes to that rather specific loss. Maybe it seeks to make us all equal in strength, and it's certainly succeeding.
[[...sparkle~]]
Well, almost, anyway~!
A case of some of us being a bit more equal than others, really. At any rate, I was informed of the situation regarding our weapons almost immediately upon arriving on this godforsaken rock - another thing I plan to rectify, should the opportunity present itself. I have to admit curiosity regarding these gauntlets of yours, however; are they necessary for the...
[...ges...turing, there is a lot of aimless gesturing for a moment there]
...the alchemy, or whatever it is that you do? I've never heard that term used quite in this context, or in the context that our dear friend Kimblee tends to use it, it's completely different where I'm from...although we do have...
[He trails off for a moment, clearly lost in thought, before shaking his head and making a bit of a tch sound, pulling himself back into the conversation.
...he does that once in a while; get used to it, because he definitely plans on speaking to you further after this.]
Ah, but anyway. The gauntlets...?
Ah, of course, Mr Reaver! I would be more than happy to answer any questions you have regarding the alchemy of my home land; my gauntlets are inscribed with my alchemical circles. You require a circle in order to perform alchemy; let me give you an example!
[[Gesturing off-screen, Armstrong places his Pokegear into the capable....appendages of one of his Pokemon, who promptly points it steadily at the ground. With practised ease, Armstrong draws a perfect circle, before adding a complex array of lines and symbols with speedy, yet perfectly controlled movements. He didn't lie about being an artist, after all.]]
This is an example of an array I could use to produce a spike from the ground, if I had my power. I suppose you could correlate our 'alchemy' to 'magic', but it's a bit more sophisticated than that!
My gauntlets allow me to use my alchemy without needing to stop and draw a circle; I just need to hit the earth with my fist, and I can do what I like! It's very helpful for a fast combat situation.
[[Don't worry about those speech quirks, by the way! He's met some damn quirky people in his time, and you're so likable that he's willing to give you a free pass for pretty much anything at this point!]]
Of course, my alchemy can also be used to make sculptures and statues; I tend to prefer that sort of thing, ohohoho!
As it stands, however, he'll actually let you finish all that without interjecting; he leans forward a bit, clearly intrigued, particularly once the drawing starts. He moves a bit after a while, shifting his grip on that cane of his and toying with it a bit, though the gesture is just there to give himself something to do while he considers, not a sign of boredom; he's always been more than a bit fidgety and staying still through all that is quite simply not going to happen.]
That really is fascinating, believe me...back in Albion, we have three Heroic disciplines - the Strength and Will that I mentioned earlier, as well as Skill. Strength is fairly obvious, encompassing both physical prowess and heightened abilities when using weapons such as swords, axes or hammers designed for battle; Will is best described as magic use, and Skill is increased speed and dexterity, as well as heightened abilities with firearms. What you describe as alchemy actually corresponds to those disciplines rather well; you would likely be considered a rather powerful Hero of Strength, as Albion goes, and from what I've heard about Kimblee, he favors Will...it's very interesting indeed, the other instances of magic that I've discussed with others aren't nearly as close to what I'm used to, but this...well.
Let's say that should this place see fit to return your abilities to you, you really will have to demonstrate these powers of yours for me.
[[Okay, this 'Albion' place of yours just got a whole lot more interesting. Even if he, um....wouldn't exactly consider Kimblee a Hero....]]
How intriguing, Mr Reaver! I've never heard of such a thing, but I suppose you're obviously rather talented with that Skill discipline, if you're good with guns! At least, if I'm following properly.
[[I-Is he doing this right? He's not sure if he's doing this right....]]
It would be an honour to be able to display my alchemy for you; I could even make a statue in your image, ohoho~!
[[Which would be fun, right? Statues are always fun~]]
