MISSION 003 [NORTHERN ROUTE 34 - ACTION/VIDEO/TEXT]

[[Should you be on the outskirts of Goldenrod City today, you may come across a shirtless Major Armstrong and his Riolu, who are standing just off the path leading to the Daycare. They appear to be having some sort of argument; well, Armstrong is doing the angry talking and the Riolu is looking indignant and sulky.

Armstrong is a fighter by heart, and when he realised Riolu's talents for fighting, he immediately set out to teach the little Pokemon all he knew about hand to hand combat. He took to it well, quickly learning a number of techniques ranging from simple to complex.

There is one thing, however, that has Armstrong concerned.]]

Berli, that Rattata had had more than enough. You shouldn't have continued to attack it!

[[The Riolu scowls, angrily kicking at the dirt, refusing to look his trainer in the eye. Armstrong sighs, and kneels down so that he can talk to the Pokemon a bit more intimately, without looking so intimidating.]]

To be a truly noble fighter, Berli, you need to learn to recognize when to show mercy. Your opponent was posing no danger to you or any of your friends, and was trying to escape; attacking it was a cowardly thing to do.

[[He pauses, then, a sad look coming over his face as he appears lost in some distant memory. It passes quickly, however, and he's soon back to looking serious but sympathetic.]]

Next time I tell you to stop, you must stop. Before long, you'll be able to see it yourself. There is no satisfaction to be gained from a fight where the tables are hopelessly turned in your favour.

[[Berli rolls his eyes, but nods, continuing to sheepishly kick the dirt, which is quickly followed by indignant flailing as his trainer rubs his head.]]

I'll make a warrior worthy of the Armstrong name out of you yet!

[[...now to deal with his poor Graveler, who is lying, smoking, on the side of the road with a pleased but exhausted expression on his face. Armstrong's frown deepens.]]

...how about you take a break from doing that to yourself, Ben...

[[GUESS WHO JUST LEARNED SELF-DESTRUCT....]]

I was wondering if anyone had information about an ailment that appears to be affecting one of my pokemon. I've attached a picture:

According to the Pokegear, he should be a blue colour. Is there anything wrong with him? I'd like to know so I can get him treatment immediately, should he be ill!

Hughes, I have made it to Goldenrod City! What are your whereabouts?

[Self-Destruct is a fairly loud move. Not as loud as Explosion, but it's certainly something Archer has become familiar with. He's out training (for once; it's been quite awhile since he's even left the Rocket Base), flanked by his newly evolved Jolteon and Vaporeon.]

[He immediately starts toward the explosion - it's stupid to hope that it's Kimblee, especially when he said he'd be leaving and there's no way he'd return so soon but...]

[Archer stops when he finally approaches, watching the scene unfold. He's never seen the Pokémon Armstrong is talking to, but he does recognize the Graveler. He finally approaches after a moment, the Jolteon and Vaporeon following closely. They're very weak in comparison to the rest of what he's raising, and they seem to be more pets than anything else.]

Good afternoon, Armstrong. What kind of Pokémon is that?

It sounds as though you've done your research.

[He's never heard of a Riolu before; clearly he's missing out.]

Did you capture this one? It's certainly fascinating.

[Oh, and of course his taste in Pokémon is glorious! It's not like he has a bbmurder scorpion with him or anything!]

Ah, thank you. These two are my newer acquisitions; they are the offspring of two of my other Pokémon.

[He doesn't have the Glaceon or the Houndoom with him at the moment, but that's because he's training all of his lower leveled things.]

I think if you ask Nurse Joy, she might know. I've seen a few different types that aren't their usual color on the network lately, but none of them seem to be hurting at least.

[personal profile] ex_aeroga402 2012-03-02 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Understandable, I remember I got pretty worried the first time one of my team evolved. Pokémon are so different from anything a lot of us have seen.

I don't think I've seen that type before, color aside.

[ Maes is out training today. And... hears a loud explosion somewhere off in the distance. Curious, and a little concerned, he's making his way toward it.

Just... in time... to hear the end of Armstrong's lecture. ]

Ah, Major... Out training, today?

[ This reminds him, he'd gotten something earlier on his 'Gear... Glancing down, and... reading... the text that you sent him a while ago. He'd been a bit preoccupied worrying over that explosion.

Nevertheless, he holds up the text message with a smile. ]

Right here, actually.

Hmm, no, I can't say I've seen anything like that. As strange as Pokemon are, though, I doubt they'd change color if they were ill-was it like that when you caught it?

It's probably just some sort of harmless color mutation. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hm. My, my, Armstrong. It appears we both have a similar problem, right down to the purple-instead-of-blue coloration. [ The sound of a confused headscratch is very faint but noticeable in the background. ] My pokemon has a runny nose too, but apparently it's standard for all specific pokemon species, both purple and blue.

Have you ever heard of a Cubchoo? They appear to be bears with a penchant of sneezing.

Also, does your pokemon have a tendency to sparkle? [ If it's shiny, it should sparkle. One thing Lust has constantly noticed is how it's always sparkling. ]
